About Kelly-Anne Rover
Founder & CEO of Vizually Speaking
I’m Kelly-Anne Rover, Founder and CEO of Vizually Speaking—a Canadian service dedicated to designing customized visual aids and communication strategies that help individuals, families, caregivers, and frontline workers support communication, understanding, and independence.
I am an educator, Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA), Behavioural and Rehabilitation Support Worker (RSW), Special Education Assistant, First Responder, instructor, and coach. I am also a parent and daughter, roles that have deeply shaped my understanding of the real challenges families face when navigating complex support systems.
Personal Experience That Shaped My Work
Originally from Canada, I lived abroad for 10 years, gaining valuable insight into how individuals and families navigate support systems across different cultures and environments.
My professional work is deeply connected to my personal experiences.
As the parent of a child with a learning disability and the daughter of a father who experienced multiple strokes, I understand firsthand how overwhelming it can be when individuals and families are faced with limited resources, unclear communication, and a lack of accessible tools.
During these experiences, I witnessed something powerful:
Customized visual aids can transform communication, reduce frustration, and help individuals participate more fully in daily life—regardless of age, ability, or location.
This realization became the foundation for Vizually Speaking.
Over 30 Years Supporting Individuals and Families
For more than three decades, I have worked with individuals and families across multiple environments, supporting people living with:
→ Autism and neurodiversity
→ Learning disabilities
→ Brain injuries and stroke recovery
→ Behavioural challenges
→ Communication disorders
→ Dementia and cognitive decline
→ Developmental disabilities
Throughout my career, I have collaborated with:
✓ Families and caregivers
✓ Educators and school teams
✓ Healthcare professionals
✓ Community support workers
✓ Rehabilitation teams
✓ Emergency responders and frontline workers
Together, we design and implement customized visual aids and strategies that improve communication, support emotional regulation, reduce undesired behaviour, and increase independence.
What Vizually Speaking Provides
Vizually Speaking was created to bridge a growing gap in accessible supports.
Across Canada, individuals and families are experiencing increasing demand for services while access to specialists, therapy, and individualized tools continues to decline.
Vizually Speaking helps fill this gap by providing:
→ Customized visual communication supports
→ Visual schedules and routines
→ Behaviour and emotional regulation supports
→ AAC communication boards
→ Caregiver and professional training
→ Strategies for schools, healthcare environments, and community settings
These tools help individuals understand expectations, communicate needs, and participate more successfully in everyday life.
My Approach
My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and practical.
I work alongside individuals, families, caregivers, educators, healthcare teams, and frontline workers to design customized visual aids and strategies that can be used consistently across environments such as:
→ Home
→ School
→ Work
→ Healthcare settings
→ Community spaces
When customized visual aids are clear, customized, and consistently implemented, they can dramatically improve communication, reduce stress, and increase independence.
What I Believe
I believe every individual deserves:
✓ Affordable access to high-quality customized visual aids
✓ Tools that match their learning and communication style
✓ Recognition for their strengths and abilities
✓ Opportunities to participate fully in daily life
Individuals should be recognized for their strengths, abilities, and potential—not defined by a diagnosis.
When we focus on strengths while reducing individual and social barriers, individuals are empowered to succeed in meaningful ways.
Let’s Work Together
Every individual and every family’s situation is unique.
I am always eager to learn about the challenges you—or someone in your care—may be experiencing and to explore how customized visual aids and strategies can help improve communication, reduce stress, and support independence.
Together, we can create customized, practical tools that make everyday life easier.
