First-Then board is another form of a visual schedule. It is used to assist an individual with language and/or behaviour needs to complete a specific task or activity. It displays two pictures. The “first” is usually a picture of a non-preferred activity or task and the “then” is a picture of a preferred activity or item. It provides structure and high motivation to work through the task. First-Then boards can be used with schedules to clarify expectations. They can be paired with token boards and/or timers to capture how much and how long an expectation is.
